The tennis world, after witnessing the journeys of both the legendary player Serena Williams and the young star Iga Swiatek, is now on the line of running a comparison window for both tennis stars. As the young Polish player recently proved her worth to the fans by winning the WTA Finals title in Cancun along with maintaining her World No.1 spot for the year-end, the comparisons became quite obvious to follow.

Looking back to the year 2013, Serena Williams had an amazing year as she grabbed two Grand Slam titles by presenting excellent form on the court. Comparing the feat to what happened in 2022, Iga Swiatek proved to draw a similar line over Williams’ feat, as she gained amazing victories at both Roland Garros and the US Open, hitting a switch on to her era of dominance.

As the comparisons carried on to the subsequent years, 2014 saw Williams in a comparatively quieter mode as she was able to hit just one Slam. Tracing the performance to the present year, Iga Swiatek found herself in a similar scenario, as she also was able to win only one major title at Roland Garros.

As the comparisons moved forward to the next year where Serena Williams marked a remarkable year by capturing three Grand Slam titles and also made a run to the Calendar Year Grand Slam (CYGS), the eyes now look forward to what Iga will secure. However, does Swiatek really care about such comparisons?

“Honestly, I don’t even know these records. I play tennis, but I’m not really an expert in terms of statistics and history, so I’m not really focused on that. I’m kind of living in a different world, I feel. I never even played Serena or, you know, Monica Seles. So, yeah, I’m kind of living my own life and having my own journey,” Iga Swiatek mentioned.
