Despite its importance at present, the internet is a rather new invention. But only after 30 years of its invention, the internet has become ubiquitous. There is almost no country or only a few places on the planet that do not have some kind of access to the world wide web. Alexis Ohanian, the husband of Serena Williams, was one of the few who started using the internet in its early stages. To prove this fact, he recently tweeted about how he started using the internet with his Dial-Up Internet on his Twitter page.

The internet became available for public use in the early 1990s. When it first started, people had to use a Dial-up connection, which was slightly different than today’s process. The lightning fast speeds we see today were nothing but a dream in the 90s. Overtime, the usage kept improving. More and more people started frequenting on the web and it became a way for people to share information easily.

Images, sound tracks, videos, and more started popping up. Eventually entire businesses started to pop up, entirely based on the internet. One of those companies was Reddit, founded in 2005. Alexis Ohanian was one of the people who frequented the internet during its dawn. He shared a post on Twitter and pointed out when he started using the virtual space.

He pointed out that he went on the internet in 1994. He captioned his tweet saying that he used the 33.6, which was a part of the Dial-up internet access. Ohanian added that he was lucky to be this early. “Wow. This was me with my 33.6 🙏I was lucky to be this early tbh“, he tweeted.

When Alexis Ohanian left Reddit

Ohanian launched Reddit in 2005 and worked on his project till 2020. The co-founder of the platform left the board of directors as an act of solidarity to the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. He left his brainchild in order to support a movement that was for a greater purpose. Even Serena Williams backed him on this decision.
