Elena Rybakina has the tennis world in a frenzy with her recent performances at the ongoing Brisbane International. The Kazakhstani tennis player is currently competing against Aryna Sabalenka in the title match of the WTA 500 event. As she is dominating against the reigning Grand Slam champion, Rybakina also brought shades of Roger Federer during her blockbuster matchup.

The current world No. 4 player has scored a bagel as she won the first set of her championship match in Brisbane. In the process, Rybakina also pulled off a Federer-like shot, while her Belarusian opponent, Sabalenka, could only watch on the court.

While she was 2-0 up in the first set, the Kazakhstani tennis star pulled off a stunning drop volley straight out of the Roger Federer playbook as she clinched the crucial point. A video clip of Rybakina’s Federer-like shot was recently brought to light on Twitter by the official page of the Tennis Letter.

In their social media post, the Tennis Letter hailed the former Wimbledon champion by saying, “Elena Rybakina hits another drop volley straight out of the Roger Federer playbook. If she can keep improving this part of her game, I’m not sure there will be anyone who can stop her.”

Rybakina’s stellar run at the Brisbane International

The current No. 1 Kazakh player started her campaign by outclassing her Australian opponent, Olivia Gadecki, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1. During her campaign at the Brisbane International, the current world No. 4 player then brushed aside the likes of Linda Nosková, Anastasia Potapova, and Elise Mertens in the latter stages of the WTA 500 event. As she is currently competing for the title against top-seed Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina has won the first set of the championship match with a score of 6-0.
