In an interview with The Telegraph, ITF President David Haggerty recalled how Venus and Serena’s triumph at the US Open had a tremendous impact on American tennis. Similarly, he stated that if Raducanu succeeds at the Wimbledon Championships in the future, her victory can have the same effect on Great Britain’s tennis as well.
He said, “As a proud American, I saw first-hand what Serena and Venus Williams’ successes at the US Open had on tennis in the States. They were game-changing for the sport. If Raducanu can build on the fantastic start to her tennis journey, why can’t her impact at Wimbledon and for Great Britain be similar?”
