British tennis star Emma Raducanu rose to fame when she won the US Open last year. However, the19 years old has failed to recreate similar magic this year. As she had an average 2022 season by far. Recently, the former US Open champion bowed out of the ongoing French Open 2022. Earlier this week playing in the second round of the tournament she lost to Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Struggling with patchy form and injuries, Raducanu has failed to impress and got a lot of criticism for her performance. However, in a recent interview, the 19 years old hinted at focusing on the more positive sides.

Emma Raducanu is proud of her achievements

Speaking about dealing with the early success, the world number 12 rued missing chances of celebrating her own achievements. As the 19 years old was too much involved in the process that followed. She didn’t take out time for revisiting her success and that kind of backfired.

“A lot of the time I forget [about being a Grand Slam champion], and that’s one thing I think I should do more–wake up and be proud of my achievements, and of myself, rather than giving myself a hard time about other things.” She said.

Raducanu seems to follow a positive approach. Amidst all the criticism, the young girl has held her head high and shut the noise.

Raducanu justifies her coaching changes

Raducanu is often criticized for her frequent coaching staff changes. The Brit paired with Nigel Sears during her fourth-round run at Wimbledon last year. Thereafter, along with Andrew Richardson, she claimed her first Grand Slam trophy and broke the collaboration just after the event. She later hired LTA coach Jeremy Bates temporarily. And then she worked with Torben Beltz but ended up her partnership yet again.

Recently, in an interview when she was asked about the same, she gave her reasons.

“It might not work for anyone else and people might look at me like I’m crazy. But I trust my own decision-making and my own beliefs of what I think is right for myself. I’m pretty confident in how I’m working and my mindset and outlook towards how I’m approaching my tennis right.” She said.

However, after the early exit from Roland Garros, the 19 years old will look forward to focusing on the upcoming grass season, with an eye on the Wimbledon title.
