Emma Raducanu has had a modest 2022 season so far. After the highs of the previous season, which saw her win the US Open title, the British tennis star hasn’t been able to weave her magic this year. Moreover, her best result this season has been a quarterfinal appearance at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix. Further, she hasn’t been able to proceed beyond the second round of the Grand Slam tournaments in 2022.

Raducanu is having an important part of the season coming up. She is set to defend 2000 ranking points after winning the US Open title last year. The 19-year-old has made some major changes to her coaching staff in the hope of putting on a good show in the US Open swing.

Emma Raducanu teams up with Dmitry Tursunov

Ahead of the hard-court season, the reigning US Open champion has announced the addition of Russian coach, Dmitry Tursunov to her coaching staff. The latter earlier worked with world number two, Anett Kontaveit. However, Tursunov ended his coaching stint with Kontaveit in June.

Raducanu was seen practicing with Tursunov and Ray Sarmiento ahead of the Citi Open.

The WTA 250 tournament commences on August 1 in Washington DC. Apart from Raducanu, the likes of Jessica Pegula, Simona Halep, and Victoria Azarenka will also be vying for the title at the Citi Open.

In the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships, Raducanu reached the second round before losing against Caroline Garcia of France. She was the local favorite at the tournament but couldn’t dig deep, much to the disappointment of the local fans.
