Iga Swiatek talks about her position in the tennis world

As the 22-year-old is ready to face Jessica Pegula to claim the WTA Finals under her name, this year has been an emotional roller-coaster for her in terms of achievements on the court. In a recent conversation with the Tennis Channel, Iga Swiatek opened up about how far she has come while living her tennis dream.

Swiatek said, “For sure, it’s not easy. It’s kind of a high-pressure environment. Overall, I’m just happy I’m in that place. I never really thought it would be possible for me. I just try to really be grateful for that. It doesn’t matter if I’m 22. I feel like I’m older. So I don’t really think about that every day.”

Along with that, she also talked about how, as a 22-year-old, she has handled herself to give her best in every match possible. Further, she also highlighted how she is not well-versed in the handling part, as this is what she always wanted to do. In addition, she also stated that even though it’s not easy to play under pressure, she has always been grateful for what she has received on the court.

Iga Swiatek puts herself as a Serena Williams successor

Although the years 2022 and 2023 have been quite challenging for the Polish tennis player, she has stood the test of time. Every now and then, after turning challenges into opportunities leading to countless victories, she finally matched one of the 42-year-old American tennis legend’s unbeatable achievements.

Iga Swiatek is the only player to have multiple seasons with more than 20 victories in straight sets after Williams. The 23-time Grand Slam champion achieved such incredible feats back in 2013 and 2014, but since then, no other tennis player has been able to carry such a long victory run. But Swiatek is built differently; while trying to give her best, she, somewhere down the line, puts herself in a position where she can be the one who follows Williams’ achievements.

Nevertheless, Iga Swiatek is not leaving any chance to give her best while trying to live her tennis dream. What do you think about the 22-year-old tennis player’s achievements at such a young age? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
