No matter how much we praise what young Emma Raducanu has achieved over the past 3 weeks, our efforts will still fall short. The 18-year-old won the US Open, her second ever Grand Slam, and had a lot to say after her victory. In her post-match press conference, Raducanu spoke about blocking out the external world to enjoy her victory. After all, it has turned out to be one of the most incredibly sporting stories of the recent past.

Emma Raducanu has self-admittedly outdone what everyone had expected of her. She came through the qualifying rounds, and then got through the main draw with relative ease. As the tournament went on, a lot of hype was generated by Emma and her opponent in the final – Fernandez. However, she maintained right throughout that she is only focusing on her game, and it worked wonders for her. In the interview, she analyzed how living in the moment helped her team.

Dazzling in a lovely black gown, the champion was all smiles as she addressed the press one final time. It was hard to tell which one was glowing more – Emma’s joyous face or the glittering trophy next to her. Nonetheless, she opened up about the match, her opponent, what it’s like to be a Grand Slam winner, what it took, and much more. In one of the segments regarding whether or not she was influenced by what was being said, the 18-year-old quoted “I still haven’t checked my phone.

“I have absolutely no idea what’s going on outside of our little world that we’re in here. We’ve just been in the quiet room, just enjoying the moment and taking it all in. I think today we just really need to just shut out from everything and just enjoy it as a team, because it was a team effort, I didn’t get here by myself at all. I mean every single person that’s here with me has helped me along the way and played a huge part.”
