However, before the Wimbledon Championships, Serena is set to participate in the doubles competition in Eastbourne. She’ll team up with singles World Number 4, Ons Jabeur of Tunisia at the tournament.

Recently, a video surfaced wherein Serena opened up about the longevity of her tennis career.

Serena Williams gives a witty reply to a journalist

During an interview, a journalist asked Serena, “Is there a chance you’ll still be playing at 38, do you think?” Subsequently, the former World Number 1 replied, “38? If I am, I want you to personally take me off and escort me off the court. There’s no way I need to be out here at 38.”

However, at 40, Serena has announced her comeback plans. She is looking to add at least a Grand Slam title to her illustrious trophy cabinet to equal Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam titles.

The Wimbledon Championships has been one of the most successful tournaments of Serena’s career. She has won the title an astonishing seven times here. Further, there might be some interesting matchups in women’s singles at this year’s grass-court Grand Slam tournament after Serena’s wildcard entry. There is a possibility that the 23-time Grand Slam champion will run into higher-seeded players during the initial rounds.

Serena’s former coach explains breaking his partnership with her

Earlier this year, Patrick Mouratoglou, Serena’s former coach, ended his coaching partnership with Williams and joined Simona Halep’s team.

Explaining this decision, Mouratoglou said, “I wanted to be fair to her and not be disappointed at the end of my career. I went to ask her what she was going to do. It wasn’t very clear to her. I asked her if she wanted to go to Roland Garros. [She] told me [she] didn’t know. It was six weeks before the tour. I told her that I was waiting for her on Monday for training and if she didn’t come I would consider myself free.” (translated by Google)
