

Eugenie Bouchard is one of the most celebrated players, especially in Canada. After all, she is the first Canada-born Canadian who made it to the Grand Slam final, back in 2013. Even so, she is just a fan when it comes to the 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer.

Bouchard has been a die-hard fan of Federer since her early days on the professional tour. Therefore, when Federer announced his retirement, she had a reaction similar to any other fan of Federer. She thanked him for his work and took a trip down the memory lane.
The amount of admiration Eugenie Bouchard has for Roger Federer
The 2014 Wimbledon finalist took to Twitter to pay homage to the Swiss legend in a unique way. She shared an image of her past Federer related tweets. The first on the list was from the time when he followed her back. To which her reaction was, “No way!”

Other tweets were about her celebrating his wins and supporting him. “Yes! So happy. Roger will get first Switzerland’s first medal.” Also, one of the array of tweets portrayed how her emotions changed with Federer‘s results on the tour.

Bouchard went through a rollercoaster ride which took turns in accordance with the former World No.1’s results. “Can’t wait to watch Roger and Novak!” followed by “So depressed Roger lost” then “Come on Roger!!!”

What is Bouchard up to these days?
The Canadian tennis ace, after having a rough year and suffering a gruesome shoulder injury in Guadalajara, walked out of the circuit following her Monterrey Open opening round defeat. She made a comeback this season following over a year on the sidelines because of the surgery her shoulder injury demanded.

Unfortunately, her grip on the game had already loosened to the extent that she couldn’t clear the qualifiers. Bouchard failed miserably in the US Open, packing her bags in the second qualifier. Currently, she is competing in the WTA 250 event in Chennai, India.

The 28-year-old seems to have regained her touch as she successfully secured a straight set win over her round of 32 and round of 16 opponents. Now on Friday she will lock horns for a seat in the last four of the Chennai Open.
