Eugenie Bouchard misses out on Wimbledon Championships 2022

Bouchard is looking to make a return after her shoulder injury. However, the 28-year-old still did not feature in the Wimbledon Championship 2022. The Canadian took to Twitter to explain the reason for the same. While the Wimbledon Championship was ripped of WTA points, it would be a risk for Bouchard to use one of her protected rating cards in the tournament.

“Due to my shoulder surgery, I get a limited number of protected ranking (PR) entries. As much as I love Wimbledon and skipping it makes me sad, using a PR entry at a tournament with no ranking points doesn’t make sense,” she said.

Now that Bouchard has skipped Wimbledon, she has shifted her focus to the upcoming US Open and plans to play the Australian Open after that.
