EXCLUSIVE: Alycia Parks Makes a Startling Admission When Asked To Pick Between Her Wimbledon and US Open Breakthroughs

Alycia Parks has revealed her favorite career moment so far. American WTA star Parks gained notoriety when she tied the then record of Serena Williams for the fastest serve (128.3 mph) in her debut Grand Slam event, the US Open, in 2021. Last year, she also attended the Wimbledon championship, however, she exited the tournament after an early loss against Ana Bogdan.
Parks, nevertheless, received a lot of attention after the event. So much so, that some found early traits of Serena Williams in her performance. In a recent interview with Essentially Sports at the Desert Smash event, Parks revealed her choice between experiencing her maiden US Open and Wimbledon tournaments.
Without taking a moment to ponder, when asked which tournament she preferred, the tennis star quickly replied, “Probably US Open. Yes,” referring to it as her breakout performance. Having been compared to Williams after the event, Parks also spoke about how the American tennis icon is a true inspiration to her, terming the 23x Grand Slam winner to be “literally tennis.”

She added, “When I watched King Richard, there were a lot of scenes…we kind of did it that way too. It was so weird because it was so similar. It felt good at the US Open that I got to hit with both of them. Serena especially, because I look up to Serena. She’s the GOAT of tennis. What can you do besides look up to her? She’s literally tennis.”

Currently, Alycia Parks is attending the Indian Wells tournament. Although Parks chose the US Open as a preferred tournament, she expressed joy as she defeated Maria Sakkari and Karolina Pliskova at Wimbledon.

Parks seemed extremely happy after defeating renowned players like Sakkari and Pliskova. She said, “It’s been a fun ride!! Amazing playing with this chick (Zhang Shuai), and many more to come! My season has come to an end couldn’t ask for a better ending going into next year top 100 in both singles and doubles Thank You everyone for the wonderful messages definitely feel the support! 3 more titles added to the book can’t wait to see what 2023 has in store for me. God’s timing is always on time.”

Alycia Parks also received compliments from Coco Gauff, who admired her performance. Parks’s response expressed that no matter what, the US Open Championship 2021 will always be special to her.
