One such woman is Britney Spears. Williams’ bond with her is through the medium of music. She has always found the singer’s compositions well adjusted to her palate. So much so that there was a time when she used her lyrics to forge quotes for her tweets.

Williams, in a 2018 interview, addressed her love for Spears’ music. When asked about using her single Lucky’s verse in her tweet, she said, “I just love that song. I think it’s funny, I always tweet lyrics a lot, and some people are always like, “Are you okay? What’s going on?” I’m like, “You clearly don’t know Britney Spears.””

Thereafter, she spoke about how she relates to the stronger than yesterday. The former World no.1 said, “I love that song. I was just talking about it. And I often feel like I’m not a girl, not yet a woman. I don’t know why, because clearly I’m a woman, but I still feel like I’m not yet.”

Williams, after keeping out of the circuit for almost a year, made her singles comeback in this season’s Wimbledon. However, owing to a long break and injury, she couldn’t make it up to the second round of the tournament.

Following that, she broke the news of her retirement. She enrolled for the Canadian and Cincinnati Masters to oil her skills for the last Grand Slam of the year, as well as her career.
