The role of Richard Williams in the success of his daughters, Venus and Serena Williams, has been immense. He introduced the two sisters to tennis. Moreover, he would take them to public tennis courts and started training them when they were just four and a half years old. In November 2021, a biographical drama named ‘King Richard’ was released, inspired by the life of Richard Williams.

King Richard had already been nominated for various awards like the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, and others. Surprisingly, Will Smith won his career’s first Golden Globe for his portrayal of Richard in the biographical drama.

Yesterday, the nominations for Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced and King Richard received nominations in two categories. Will Smith was nominated in the ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role’ category and the other nomination was in the ‘Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture’ category.

The younger Williams sister, who is also one of the executive producers, took to Instagram and said, “this feels like a new dream.” She shared a story on her official Instagram handle, displaying the poster of the movie.
