Dream comes true for Aishwarya Jadhav

While it’s a dream come true for the Maharashtra teenager, the opportunity did not come easy to her. The Under-14 player has put up a lot of hard work to reach here. She recently won the doubles title at the Under-16 Junior Tennis Nationals held at Kolhapur last week.

Her mother, Anjali Jadhav, speaking about her excitement for her daughter’s participation in the grass-court tournament, said, ?To have her play on the Wimbledon grass courts? is a dream that I have had for her. Wimbledon will be played without ranking points

While Wimbledon is one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, it will be played without ranking points. Recently, WTA and ATP announced the decision. Notably, the grass-court Grand Slam organizers have banned Russian and Belarusian players in the wake of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

However, this did not go down well with the tennis governing bodies, as they pointed out, “Discrimination based on nationality also constitutes a violation of our agreement with Wimbledon that states that player entry is based solely on ATP Rankings.”
