American tennis star, Serena Williams, is ending her long and illustrious career. The 40-year-old is currently playing in her last US Open. Serena has not only piled up the records but also made a few great friends on the tour. The former world number one shares a great bond with former Danish tennis star, Caroline Wozniacki.

While Serena won her second-round match last night, Wozniacki was present at the stadium cheering for her friend. She also met with Serena’s husband, Alexis Ohanian.

Serena Williams fought hard to secure a second-round victory in the US Open 2022. She was playing against the second-seeded Estonian tennis star, Anett Kontaveit. While Serena won her three-set encounter, Serena’s husband, Alexis Ohanian, her daughter Olympia and her best friend Caroline Wozniacki were present at the Arthur Ashe stadium. After Serena’s victory, Ohanian recorded a short video with Wozniacki and posted it on his Instagram story.

“Ohanian: This is ESPN reporting live from outside the US Open. Caroline Wozniacki, what do you think about the match?

Wozniacki: what a match tonight. I mean that was awesome. The girl was back. She was never gone, and we have five more matches to go.”

Serena will next face Australian tennis star Ajla Tomljanović in her third-round match.

When Serena Williams stood up for Caroline Wozniacki

Serena and Wozniacki are long-time friends. The two have seen good and bad times together. Back in 2014, Wozniacki was in a long-time relationship with Northern Irish golfer, Rory McIlroy. The two had it going all well and were also going to marry soon.

However, to the utter surprise of the danish tennis star, her fiance broke up with her on a phone call. Evidently devastated by this, the Danish isolated herself and didn’t answer any calls.

However, Serena didn’t give up easily and kept calling. Finally, Wozniacki had to answer her call and the American tennis star comforted her best friend when she needed her the most. Wozniacki ended her tennis career after a third-round loss in the Australian Open 2020.
