Returning to the professional circuit after giving birth is not easy! But this year, with an amazing tennis mother’s comeback, the WTA has raised the standards. Elina Svitolina, who returned to the sport a little over six months after giving birth, pulled off some amazing results, surprising everyone. However, she’s not the only one, though! While the ‘comeback mothers’ clan, including the likes of Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Angie Kerber, is on its way to dominating the tennis scene, they might have to deal with extra pressure other than making a comeback.

Well, Andrea Petkovic, a 35-year-old former German tennis player, opened up about the same. She recently highlighted how the Ukrainian tennis players’ marvelous comeback can pose a serious threat to other moms getting ready to set foot on the court.

Andrea Petkovic’s distinct statement about Elina Svitolina’s marvelous comeback

Making a comeback after becoming a mother is not something new to the WTA world. The 28-year-old Svitolina stunted everyone by making it to the semi-finals of Wimbledon. Looking at her amazing comeback performance, the former German tennis star highlighted how other mothers waiting in line to make a comeback can feel a bit more pressure, with her marvelous performances.

In an interview with the Tennis Channel Inside-In, the 35-year-old said, “We now see Elina Svitolina. Now I have to ask myself if she now increased the pressure on people like Caroline Wozniacki, Naomi Osaka, & Angie Kerber. I think they thought comeback like ‘Oh, she was just pregnant, let’s see what she does & we’ll re-evaluate after a year.”

While the Wimbledon semi-finalist raising the bar can be a concern to the present set of active tennis players, she is focused on her child more than anything.

She revealed how coming back from a loss on the tennis court and seeing her baby’s face literally changed her perspective on how she doesn’t have to be sad around her. Along with that, she also stated that she doesn’t have time to think about her good performance while she is with her little one.

Do you think Svitolina will continue to be a menace on the court for her fellow competitors?
