Former Doubles Partner Still on Coco Gauff’s Mind as She Wishes Her on a Special Day

Aside from the singles events on the women’s tour, Coco Gauff has also made great strides in the doubles category. The American tennis prodigy previously made headlines when she attained the world No. 1 ranking in doubles. During this phenomenal journey, the 19-year-old was also accompanied by her compatriot, Caty McNally.

Prior to parting ways in the previous season, the American duo secured three titles and a runner-up finish at their home Grand Slam event in 2021. While amassing a number of accolades as a doubles team, Gauff and McNally also shared a close friendship. Notably, the reigning US Open champion recently took to social media to wish her former doubles partner on a special day.

For almost three seasons, Gauff and McNally graced a number of doubles events as an exciting tennis pair. The American duo last played together at the 2022 Miami Open, where they secured a semifinal finish after overcoming the opponent team, Jil Teichmann and Alizé Cornet.

After the outdoor hard court event on their home turf, the duo parted ways, as the 19-year-old has now teamed up with Jessica Pegula. However, despite not playing together as a doubles team now, Gauff and McNally are still very good friends, as witnessed by the American tennis prodigy’s recent social media post.

On McNally’s birthday, the newly crowned Grand Slam champion shared an endearing post for her former doubles partner. While sharing a picture of herself and McNally posing together at a concert, Gauff added the caption, “happy birthday @catymcnally” and added a heart emoji.

Gauff and McNally have evidently managed to remain close friends after their split as a tennis duo. Even when Gauff pulled off a remarkable feat with her new doubles partner, the 22-year-old heaped praise on her.

The 19-year-old, alongside her new doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, reached the number 1 spot in the doubles ranking after their triumph in the 2022 Canadian Open. Reacting to Gauff’s incredible feat, McNally lauded her former doubles partner during her press conference at the Western & Southern Open.

“I thought it was incredible. Yeah, no, I reached out to Coco and congratulated her on that milestone,” she said. McNally went on to reveal that she still shares a great friendship with the American tennis prodigy and that they support each other through the ups and downs.
