Yesterday, the 4th of May, Ana took to her Twitter account putting up a Tweet. The tweet featured Ana along with her four biggest on-court rivals, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Venus Williams, and Angelique Kerber. The former World No. 1 captioned the tweet, “Strong opponents only make you stronger. Face such challenges in life and grow from them.”

The tweet in no time gained mileage, with fans going down the memory lane recalling the matches. While some fans appreciated the 34-year-old for her career performance, another lot of fans expressed their wish to see her back on the court.

Ivanovic vs Serena, Venus, Sharapova, and Kerber

Ana Ivanovic has played these four legendary players multiple times in her career. Against Serena, Ana played a total of 10 matches. While the two first played against each other at the 2006 US Open, they last faced each other in the quarterfinals of the 2015 Cincinnati. Going by record, Serena leads the head-to-head race 9-1 against Ana.

The second in line is the elder Williams sister, Venus Williams. Venus and Ana have moved a step further, playing each other 12 times in their gracious careers. The two first played in 2004 at Zurich Open with Venus winning the match in straight sets. However, their last meeting took place in 2015 in Beijing, with Ivanovic winning in straight sets. Looking at the head-to-head race, Venus leads 9-3.

Third in the list of Ana’s classic rivalries is Maria Sharapova. Ana played the Russian sensation a total of 14 times in her career. While the two first played in quarterfinals in the 2006 Linz Open, their last meeting took place at the 2015 Brisbane final. Looking at the records, Sharapova leads the race 10-4.

Lastly, in line is Angelique Kerber. While the other three dominated Ana in the head-to-head race, that wasn’t the case with Kerber. The two played a total of 7 times in their career, with Ana leading the race 5-2.
