When you play a sport long enough, it eventually starts getting more demanding. Ana Ivanovic turned pro at 16. The 35-year-old, despite being too young for retirement, had her reasons for doing so. Ana played professionally for 13 long years. However, in 2015 her body started showing some serious signs.

Ana was getting injured on the court over nothing. She broke her toe at the Australian Open a year before she retired. The surgery took her off from the season, as she wasn’t able to perform anymore. Ana also had several wrist injuries. All these factors led her to opt for an early retirement. Ana was honest with herself and her fans. As she spoke about how unfit she has become physically as well as mentally.

Even though you might sometimes miss your job, early retirement comes with its own perks. Ana is living her life in the best way possible. She has a happy and loving family. Also, the occasional trips are always an added delight.
