In 2014, she started her own capital venture firm, ‘Serena Ventures’, and the 41-year-old retired star has invested across 60 companies. Despite earning high profits in business ventures, Serena also focuses on contributing to philanthropic activities via non-profit ventures. The ‘Queen of the Court’ has been a staunch advocate for gender and racial equality in sports, not just in the US, but around the world.

She recently showcased her love for sports and the people of Africa through her Instagram stories. The 23-time Grand Slam champion expressed her happiness at seeing children in Ghana play tennis at the Hope Performance Tennis Foundation.

Serena Williams is in awe of children playing tennis in Ghana

Recently, Williams shared an IG story about Ghanian youngsters playing tennis at the Hope Performance Tennis Foundation. After watching them play the sport, she couldn’t control her happiness. After sharing the post on her story, she wrote, “This is Amazing to see.”

Hope Performance Tennis is a foundation situated in Ghana. Using tennis as a tool, the foundation aims to empower youngsters to build a better future. The foundation organizes and promotes club tournaments for youngsters. Moreover, they provide all the required resources for playing tennis and promote sports in general.

Williams has a history of giving back to the society

The retired tennis legend, Williams has always been keen on contributing to society in all possible ways. In 2006, Serena collaborated with UNICEF during her visit to Ghana. She volunteered with health workers who immunized children against deadly childhood diseases.

According to a report by UNICEF USA, in 2011, she became an official Goodwill Ambassador of UNICEF. With her popularity, she collaborated to contribute as a leading voice for UNICEF’s Schools for Africa program and the Schools for Asia initiative.

Furthermore, Serena supported children’s empowerment and helped raise awareness of domestic violence in support of women. In 2017, Williams joined hands with Allstate Foundation Purple Purse. The campaign was aimed at raising voice against domestic violence and financial abuse.
