Venus and Serena Williams are one of the most revered tennis players of all time. Hence, there are a lot of young players who look up to these tennis legends. One of them is the American player, Madison Keys who found her inspiration in none other than seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams. She was so inspired by the tennis legend that she even went on to pursue tennis as a career.

How did Venus Williams motivate Madison Keys to play tennis??
It was 2003 and Venus Williams was playing at Wimbledon. Hence, adhering to the dress code of all-white Venus Williams wore a dress designed by New York fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg. Working with Reebok at that time, the tennis star wore a lace-up back outfit. Apart from her fans who loved her dress, there was also a fan sitting back at home adoring her dress as a 4-year-old.

It was none other than Madison Keys whose younger self was mesmerized by that outfit. In a recent interview with Good Morning America, she disclosed that it was for fashion that she started playing tennis. It was Venus Williams’ dress that started off her fascination with tennis. She said, “Because of Venus’s white dress, she had on Wimbledon and I wanted a white dress to wear at Wimbledon.”

However, the 4-year-old Keys had no clue about the sport. She added, “I didn’t know what tennis was.” But she was obsessed with the dress and wanted one for herself too.
