For the first time, three former world number-one tennis players are ready to take center stage. Recently, amazing news has come to light regarding Venus Williams and her team which includes two more WTA tennis players. The 43-year-old tennis star has no intention of calling time on her tennis career. Rather, she is getting ready to end the year with a tennis event with Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters.

Venus Williams to play with two other former world number-ones  

After the US Open, the seven-time Grand Slam champion has not been quite active on the tennis court. But now she will be seen playing for the San Antonio Smash in the San Antonio Championships. The tournament will feature two teams consisting of top ATP and WTA players and top-ranked Texas junior players.

According to PRNewswire reports, initially, along with Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina, and Sofia Kenin were ready to be a part of the tournament. But unfortunately, the Ukrainian tennis player is recovering from a foot injury, while Kenin Will represent the USA in the Billie Jean King Cup, and so, both of them withdrew their names from the tournament.

As per the change, the two-time Australian Open champion, Victoria Azarenka and Kim Clijsters will be seen participating in the three-day event. The event will benefit the SA Sports I-Play Program and other non-profit foundations. However, other than their passion for tennis, all three tennis players, including Clijsters, Azarenka, and Williams, have one thing in common.

In a recent interview with Tennis.com, Venus Williams talked about targeting a return next year on the competitive circuit. After facing a first-round defeat at the US Open, while she was not able to reach her good form. She then decided to take a break while targeting March 2024 for her return.

Along with that, Venus Williams also shared the reason behind making a return next spring: it’s the time when the tournaments go back to the US. And her goal is to get up and running when the tournaments come back to the States. Even though, after making continuous efforts to make a successful comeback, she has struggled a lot this year itself.
