Venus Ebony Starr Williams has been one of the greatest players in the Open Era, and she knows it! During her recent visit to the island nation of Puerto Rico, Queen V flexed her tennis achievement in her usual unique fashion. The level of excitement among the Puerto Ricans while witnessing Venus Williams for the first time was amazing. The island nation welcomed the American tennis legend with open arms, while she was attending an exhibition match.

In the post-match interview, she replied, “I’m eating nothing, but Puerto Rican food, I love it”. She read out loud that all she wanted was to drink a Pina Colada and eat Puerto Rican food during her visit to this beautiful Caribbean Island. However, the highlight of her visit was to attend an exhibition match on September 15, at Coliseo de Puerto Rico Jose Miguel Agrelot in San Juan.

The Battle of Legends – Monica Puig vs. Venus Williams

The 2016 Olympic gold medalist and Puerto Rican tennis icon, Monica Puig, had invited Venus Williams to attend an exhibition match on her farewell at her hometown, San Juan. Monica beat Williams 7-5 4-6 10-5 to end her illustrious career. She showed her gratitude to all those who had turned out for this exhibition match and she said to Venus “Playing with you is unreal”.

Venus Williams has been an example to many. This might be her first visit to Puerto Rico, but she has officially played twice with the National Hero of Puerto Rico. She has made her mark both on and off the field here as well. Even the match point in this exhibition match felt the gratification of Venus towards her opponent- Monica Puig. Fans loved the moment, as Monica couldn’t hold her emotions.

Recently, on Monica’s birthday, Venus Williams shared a story from that trip on her Instagram. Her fans got to witness a glimpse of her yet another sassy reply when asked to pick between the Olympics and a few slams. She replied, “I don’t think I’ve to choose“. The whole room burst into laughter with her reply.
