To any aspiring player, sponsorship is an important part of their career. Traveling the world for several tournaments is costly, and being sponsored can help immensely. However, many players in the lower ranks get offers from a few sponsors. Alexandra Dulgheru was one player who was struggling at the time due to injuries. Dulgheru was in a deep ditch with no sponsors in sight until Venus Williams came to her rescue.

Williams’ absence from the tour has been sorely missed, so she is about to play again. After the ASB Classics, Williams will now step up for the grass court season in the Libema Open.

Venus Williams makes the life of a player

Alexandre Dulgheru is a Romanian player who once held a place in the top 30 of the WTA. However, Dulgheru was not able to maintain her rank. With injuries plaguing her career, Dulgheru was unable to keep up. In 2018, a similar track followed for the player when she was injured. As she fell out of the top 100, no sponsor wanted to scoop her up.

With no luck in sight, Dulgheru took a shot and sent a message to Venus Williams, asking if she could be sponsored by Eleven by Venus.

“After no surgery, I had no sponsor, and nobody was interested in working with me because my ranking was so low. So I talked to Venus because I had seen other players dressed in Eleven and asked if she could send me some clothes. She sent me a bag from Rome, and then she kept doing it for the rest of the year. Her clothes are very pretty, and I always showed her pictures from my matches. I like her and respect her a lot as a player.”

Not only did Williams send her clothes for an upcoming tournament, but she also sent her clothes for the entire year. This move by Williams improved Dulgheru’s outlook on Queen V even more.

Williams is back on tour

After an absence for months, Venus Williams will be stepping up to win a trophy. The seven-time grand slam champion recently announced her entry to the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships. She stated that she is pretty happy to play once again. As she said in an interview, she wants to prove her might to the world once again and aims only for the top.   

After this tournament, Williams will surely aim to win big at the Wimbledon. With grass court season near, fans will be able to remember the talent of the elder Williams’ sister.
