Wozniacki and Serena Williams share a wonderful friendship. Apart from that, they have also been rivals on the court. But that does not lead the Danish player to the role the Williams sisters have played. In a podcast interview, she counted the valuable contributions Venus and Serena Williams have made. She said, “They are on the players’ council for so long. Being the voice of the tour, they fought for equal prize money. They fought for more tournaments.”

Furthermore, with gratitude, she said, “It’s just so impressive what both of them have been able to do and Serena, her results speak for themselves.” Their gameplay and their success on the court made other players want to be better on the court.

Wozniacki noted, “It’s really what pushed me and everyone else to keep improving and I think that is also one of the biggest reasons why women’s tennis was improved so significantly over the last 10-20 years.” She concluded by saying, “Because Venus and Serena really set new heights and new boundaries of good, you needed to be able to keep up.

Contribution of the Williams sisters

Making a name for themselves was not the only challenge the two sisters had to go through. They had to fight the unrelated commentaries of the people on their game or the way they looked. Despite all that, they let their racquets do the talking. The two sisters not only won 30 Grand Slam titles when combined but also 14 Grand Slam titles in the doubles category together.

Not just that, the two sisters were each other’s biggest rivals too. They pushed each other to be better than the other. In Serena Williams’ final Grand Slam win at the Australian Open, it was Venus Williams whom she had defeated. This all led to setting new standards for the upcoming players who now are following on their paths.
