Alexis Ohanian took to his Instagram to make the announcement about his foundation’s partnership. He reminisced about his roots and said, “Made in Fort Greene from an immigrant mother who overstayed her au pair visa and a father whose family survived the Armenian Genocide and found refuge in America, I’m excited for @776foundation to partner with NYC and @robinhoodnyc on our $100 million Child Care Quality & Innovation Initiative.” Moreover, he stated that the initiative is about developing and expanding the child care system in NYC, especially in child care deserts, where there aren’t enough licensed child care providers.

Ohanian’s motivation behind the investment

Alexis Ohanian has evidently focused on the growth of his daughter, Olympia Ohanian. He has taken care of her and spends quality time with her. He makes pancakes and plays with dinosaurs with her. Alexis felt connected to this project as a father and stated, “As a father, I have a lot more perspective to create a world where every child gets the same chances that I got. Quality child care that’s accessible and affordable are fundamental building blocks for every child and family.”

He vehemently believes in his cause. Adding further on, he stated, “We aren’t perfect; neither are our creations. But I will always stand for and support those working to do better… and enable even more to do better.” The main reason behind it is to get all families equal access to childcare needs. This is to be done irrespective of their location, income, or circumstances.
