4 Years After Perfectionist Serena Williams’ Grand Gesture for Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex’s Absence Pokes Rightful Questions Over Their Friendship

Serena Williams recently revealed the delightful news of her second child being a baby girl in an elaborately planned baby shower. With her family, Olympia, Alexis Ohanian, Venus Williams, Richard Williams, and others by her side, Williams shared the wholesome news with the world. However, one could not ignore the absence of her close friend, Meghan Markle. Especially after Williams arranged a pompous baby shower for Meghan Markle back in 2019.

The Duchess of Sussex has mainly stayed out of the limelight this year, raising her two kids. However, she has shared an extremely close relationship with Serena, and her absence can’t be deciphered.

Meghan Markle stays absent from the sparkly baby shower of Serena Williams 

The 23-time Grand Slam champion announced her pregnancy during the Met Gala this year. Now, the time had arrived to know the gender of Olympia’s younger sibling. In a beautifully organized baby shower where balloons adorned the venue, it was revealed to be a baby girl.

However, there was a prominent name absent during this joyous occasion. The Duchess of Sussex, a long-time close friend of Serena Williams, wasn’t seen among the crowd of friends and family. Especially when Serena Williams organized a beautiful baby shower for her friend back in 2019. Markle was pregnant with Prince Archie at that point. Serena Williams and other close friends of Markle threw a baby shower for her after she flew back from the UK.

And the planner behind it all was Williams. In an interview with Business of Fashion, Williams confessed, “Planning something like that takes a lot of effort.” And she did not mind putting in all that effort. She stated, “I’m a perfectionist, so I’m like, ‘Let’s make it perfect.'”

And she made it perfect! With all the closest friends of Markle present at the baby shower, the tennis star threw a marvelous baby shower at The Mark Hotel in Manhattan.

Therefore, the absence of Markle at Williams’ baby shower is concerning for many of her fans. Although one of her best friends was nowhere to be found, Williams’ 81-year-old ailing father managed to show up to celebrate her special night.

Given the fact that he could not be there at Serena Williams’ last year’s US Open swing, Richard Williams beamed with excitement at her baby shower.
