French Open Champion Barbora Krejcikova Delays Grass-Court Switch Ahead of Wimbledon Championship 2021

It was a good week for Czech Republic and its people. The Czech soccer team won its opening game in the Euro 2020 competition against Scotland. On the other hand, Barbora Krejcikova completed a double triumph at the Roland Garros 2021, winning both the singles and doubles titles. However, the Czech international has now pulled out of the Bad Homburg Open 2021.
Barbora has become the first lady since Mary Pierce to win the singles and doubles title at the Roland Garros, in the same year. Mary Pierce had achieved the feat back in 2000. Barbora also became the first player since Serena Williams, to complete a double at a Grand Slam event, who had done the same at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships.
The Bad Homburg Open is being held at Bad Homburg, from the 20th to the 26th of June but Barbora won’t be competing for the title there. has decided to pull out of the tournament this year. The Czech international will head for the Wimbledon Championships, beginning from the 28th of June.

Barbora Krejcikova and her success at the French Open 2021
Barbora Krejcikova won the women’s singles and doubles title at the French Open 2021. She paired up with fellow countrywoman Katerina Siniakova for the doubles event. The pair beat Iga Swiatek and Bethanie Mattek-Sands, in the women’s doubles final. They won 6-4, 6-2, clinching the title with ease.

In the women’s singles final, Barbora did not have an easy final. The Czech had to break a sweat against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia. However, the 25-year-old won the game 6-1, 2-6, 6-4, against her Russian counterpart. This was the first French Open singles title for Barbora Krejcikova.

Barbora is currently ranked number 1 in the women’s doubles category. She also achieved her career-best ranking of 15, in the women’s singles category. The Czech will be in action at the Wimbledon Championships, after resting herself out from the Bad Homburg open.
