Talk about the domination of women’s players at the French Open, and the name of Chris Evert will surely top the list. The American tennis legend won an astonishing 7 titles at the clay-court Grand Slam tournament and gave her opponents a run for their money. She holds the record for the most titles by a female player here. Despite Evert’s domination at the French Open, renowned commentator, Mary Carillo, highlighted her humble nature after she was all praise of Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek has shown glimpses of the American legend by dominating this year’s French Open. Statistically speaking, she has lost just 14 games in her last four matches played, while also inflicting a bagel thrice. During The Tennis Podcast, Carillo opened up about the private text she received from Evert, that praised Swiatek’s dominance on the court.

She said, “I don’t want you to think that I share private texts. But this was so gracious. I think. She said she’s very good on clay unmatch unmatched. So I replied, says the best ever on this stuff because she’s won it seven times. And Chris said my results were but not my game. Different era. How about that? Wow. That’s from Chris Evert. That’s amazing.”

Well, this is not the first time Evert has praised Swiatek. Even before the French Open, Chris Evert expressed her opinion that Iga Swiatek could “absolutely” beat her record of seven Roland Garros titles. “Absolutely. Iga is a player on a mission…She’s going to be in for the long haul, and I told her – you’ve won three French Opens, I won seven. You’re only 22, you’re going to go past that. You can go to eight, nine, 10. But she’s got to pace herself and make sure she’s not injured,” she said.

Further, if Swiatek manages to win the summit clash against Jasmine Paolini today, she will move past Serena Williams in the list of the most French Open titles in women’s singles. She isn’t poised to stop here as tennis legend, Prakash Amritraj, believes that Swiatek can also dethrone Evert.

Prakash Amritraj makes a huge claim about Iga Swiatek and Chris Evert

Amritraj has been left completely in awe of Swiatek’s recent dominance on the clay courts. Moreover, she looks like the favorite to clinch a hattrick of titles at Roland Garros, which will also be her fourth win overall here, three short of Evert’s seven titles. Swiatek still has a long way to go in her career and Amritraj feels she can overcome Evert’s record as well.

He said, “I tell you what, though. Look at that board. There I mean, if she wins, which she’s, you know, likely to do this event, she goes to four. Look at those names she’s leaving behind on the bottom. Sanchez-Vicario who was brutal on the stuff. Serena Williams, Monica Seles I mean, and she’s only 22.

While Swiatek will go out all guns blazing, Paolini will use the surprise element to try and match the Pole. All in all, it promises to be an exciting summit clash later today.
