Nick Kyrgios strikes once again! The Aussie player has been absent from tour since January 2023, but he has succeeded in enraging fans many times. He did so once again as he commented on a post about the recent match of Iga Swiatek. His comment did not settle well for fans of women’s tennis, and they did not relent in flaming the former number 13 by reminding him of a humiliating defeat.

Swiatek recently played a banger match where she demolished Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in the third round of the French Open. Watching their bout, Kyrgios, who is often dismissive of women’s sports, commented, “😂.” His comment did not resonate well with Swiatek fans as many believed she did not have a difficult competition.

Several fans hit back at the Aussie with images of his defeat to Taylor Fritz at the 2022 Cincinnati Masters. Swiatek’s match went on for 40 minutes, while Kyrgios lost to Fritz in 50 minutes. Fritz shut Kyrgios down 6-3, 6-2 with 16 aces. Furthermore, Kyrgios erupted at the chair umpire in their match, complaining about flickering LED lights on the advertising board, demanding they get fixed.

The Aussie also received a warning for earlier use of profanity and booed by crowd for a lackluster performance throughout the clash.  The result likely still stings for Kyrgios as with the image of the final score, one fan shared the same emoji as Kyrgios, “😂.”

Kyrgios has often spoken out about how women’s tennis is not at the same level as men’s tennis. Most of his points come when he shares his opinions on equal pay in both divisions. His comments have often irritated fans, and one user showed their face by writing, “still hurt? 😕,” on a picture of the score between him and Fritz in 2022.

Similarly, another user found themselves annoyed by Kyrgios’ incessant online presence. As they shared an image of his 2022 clash with Fritz, they wrote, “go f**k yourself“.

Another user continued the theme of disdain shown in the comments but took it a step ahead. The Polish player has shown that she is number 1 in her last few tournaments, while Kyrgios has not attained more than an ATP 500 title. For this reason, they said, “what’s funny is Iga’s name will forever be etched amongst the best of the sport and kyrgios is just a synonym to attitude problems and falling short to your own potential.”

Since Kyrgios often makes light on women’s tennis, he is often under fire on social media. He similarly faced flak after the 2023 French Open final.

Nick Kyrgios catches heat from fans after making light of women’s singles final

Iga Swiatek defended her French Open title in 2023, held a day after the men’s singles semifinal. Rennae Stubbs, the former coach of Serena Williams, talked about how the women’s finals delivered better entertainment while the men’s singles semifinals were not fun. She further went on to thank the ladies. However, Kyrgios once again left “😂” as his reply, which angered fans.

Many called him a misogynist who does not get enough berating for looking down upon women’s tennis. One user even mentioned his negative comments on Coco Gauff, who has not said anything unkind about him. Some asked him to show them real tennis, and some questioned his number of titles to leave such a comment.

It would not be a stretch to say Kyrgios is disliked by many in the world. However, the player has not shown any signs of change. Will he ever be favored by fans?
