Caroline Wozniacki will be playing her one last match before she bids farewell to tennis. Angelique Kerber, her great friend, will be on the opponent’s side. The match would take place at Royal Arena in Wozniacki’s native place in Denmark.

She had announced last year that she would play her last match this year’s spring. She now gears up for the final face-off with Kerber.

Caroline Wozniacki took retirement from her career in 2020, in which she won 30 WTA titles and was also a former world no. 1 for a long period of time. Wozniacki had planned to play her last match with her dear friend Serena Williams. However, the plan got canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The player had to retire prematurely because of her persistent health issues. She had been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis after her success at the 2018 US Open. After that, in 2019, she hoped to make a comeback. However, she had to face consistent injuries throughout the year. By 2020, she announced her retirement.

Angelique Kerber to has been active on the court. However, Naomi Osaka had defeated the German player, Angelique Kerber, in the round of 64 in Miami Open 2022 in straight sets. The score was 6-2, 6-3. Moreover, at Indian Wells as well, she was defeated by world no. 1 Iga Swiatek in the round of 16.

Angelique Kerber and Caroline Wozniacki’s relationship
Kerber and Wozniacki have played matches against each other before and are known for their rivalry along with their off-court friendship. The last time when they had played was in Copenhagen, where Kerber defeated Wozniacki. Moreover, 16th seeded defeated Wozniacki in the semifinals of the US Open too in 2016 before she won the title in New York.
Now Caroline is gearing to balance out the score with the German player. Angelique Kerber uploaded on her Instagram a picture of her and Caroline with the caption, “In a few hours, friends become rivals (again)”. Caroline, too, shared the post on her Instagram story.
