Serena Williams has been busy off the court in the last three years since she hung up her racket after dominating tennis for two decades. The 23-time slam champion has made a phenomenal transition into spaces like beauty and entertainment. A year after her retirement in 2023, the 43-year-old launched her own multimedia company, 926 Productions. The move came following the extreme success of the Academy Award-winning movie King Richard. The latter showcased Serena and her sister Venus’ journey, alongside their father, who helped them achieve their career goals. Now, Serena has become a part of a special project by Netflix. In collaboration with the streaming giant, she will co-produce a TV adaptation of a popular, best-selling book. But guess what? It’s not the only series she’s going to be involved in. The former World No.1 has also joined forces with Amazon for an all-female ensemble.
On Monday, Amazon Prime Video’s team announced that it will come up with a brand new docuseries on female CEOs. Williams, alongside Caroline Currier, is set to headline the docuseries as she will executive produce it under her 926 Productions. It will work in collaboration with Tara Long and Nadine Rajabi from Blink49 Studios. The latter is a Fifth Season-backed company. Amazon MGM Studios is also involved. But what’s so special about this all-female docuseries?
The project will feature a select group of women CEOs who run prominent businesses. In short, it will showcase their unseen side in terms of how they strike a balance between work and family. “Collaborating with these awe-inspiring female CEOs has been a remarkable journey for everyone involved,” head of brand and content innovation Lauren Anderson said in a statement, as reported by The Wrap on May 12. “We believe Amazon customers will appreciate experiencing, first-hand, how they balance their public personas, professional endeavors, and personal responsibilities. Our hope is to inspire a new cohort of entrepreneurs and innovators.”

Speaking of the cast, the yet-untitled Amazon docuseries will feature ‘Queen of Latin Pop’ Thalia, former model and fashion designer Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger, Cay Skin founder Winnie Harlow, and Conteur Capital founder Hannah Bronfman. Market America / SHOP.COM CEO Loren Ridinger and jewelry designer Isabela Rangel Grutman will also be there. And of course, the line-up will have Serena who’s now a business entrepreneur as well. She’s running her own successful beauty brand called WYN since last year alongside the multimedia company.
The docuseries will exclusively premiere on Amazon’s Prime Video platform. It will stream in more than 240 countries and territories across the globe. A release date is yet to be confirmed. But you know what? It’s not the first time Serena has joined hands with Amazon? Remember her collaboration with the same company from five years ago?
Back in January 2020, the ex-WTA legend partnered with Amazon for its special celebrity stores. It was a campaign where consumers could find items related to their favorite celebrities. In the case of Serena, her celebrity store offered them various tennis equipment and fitness products.
Serena’s own multimedia company, 926 Productions, is growing further as well. In partnership with Netflix, the company will soon release an adaptation based on a famous book.

Serena Williams’ connection with Netflix’s upcoming TV series
For the uninitiated, Serena Williams shared an announcement on her IG story last month. She will collaborate with Netflix to executive produce a series based on the book Carrie Soto Is Back. Published in 2022, it’s written by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Interestingly, the book features a female protagonist who’s a famous tennis legend, and her name is Carrie Soto.
The story of the book revolves around Carrie, who has achieved all the milestones. But when her Slam-winning record is in danger of being broken because of a rising, young tennis sensation named Nicki Chan, Carrie decides to come out of retirement. Interestingly, the book’s author had once revealed that Serena was an inspiration behind this book.
During an interview with Goodreads in 2022, Reid was asked if the protagonist (Carrie) was connected to a real-life player. In her response, she revealed, “It’s not coincidental. My incredible respect for the Williams sisters is part of what makes me interested in tennis.” Continuing further, she added, “I wouldn’t write a book about tennis without the influence of just the absolute glory that has been their journey, but also specifically Serena’s quest to get as many Grand Slam titles as she has managed to do.”

Apart from the 23-time slam champion, Reid also cited other tennis figures as a source of inspiration. “There are a number of athletes that I read about: the Williams sisters, Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King. I read about a lot of different people before I started to understand exactly who Carrie was as an athlete,” she remarked.
