Coco Gauff raises questions about Iga Swiatek’s kick serve

At the WTA Finals, the four-time Grand Slam champion’s kick serve has been a topic of discussion, and in her second-round clash against the American, there were moments when her kick serves created problems for her opponent. Quite early into the match, things started getting tense between the second and third-seeded tennis players. While Gauff faced problems giving a proper serve, Swiatek’s kick serve became a problem for the 19-year-old.

In the second set, when the 2023 US Open champion was not able to give back to the pole serve, she commented that it’s the court that’s adding up to the serve, creating difficulty for her. During the match itself, after facing problems with the serve, the frustrated Gauff said, “It’s the court that does that; it’s not even a kick serve.”

While the bounce after the serve created a problem for Gauff, she blamed the court’s condition for her struggles rather than giving credit to her opponent. Further, the American tennis sensation double-faulted four times in a row while trying to serve for the second set, but apparently ended up losing the match. Even after struggling with the Cancun court’s condition, Gauff made her opinion regarding Swiatek’s game very clear.
