Any tennis player at the top of the competition would imagine life after retirement becoming more peaceful. However, that was not the case for those who are always in the limelight. Ashleigh Barty is someone who has experienced the humdrum of being a public figure, even after she retired. After revealing a new aspect of her life, Barty plans on slowing down her life now.

Ashleigh Barty is someone who has delved into more than one sport in her life. In tennis, she has been ranked number 1 and won three grand slams. In cricket, she played in the Women’s Big Bash League. However, Barty did not want to have a long career in professional sports.

Ashleigh Barty reveals great news

Barty took a break from tennis in 2014 as she could not manage traveling constantly. After her return in 2018, she set the world on fire as she won slams and reached number 1. However, she retired from the sport for good in 2022, ahead of Roger Federer and Serena Williams. As per her, she lacked the drive and want someone would need at the top level.

But the fast-paced life didn’t end for Barty there. After retirement, she wrote an autobiography, coached a young player and competed in golf, making her busier than ever. Additionally, her participation in the upcoming Australia Made Week would leave her with the bare minimum time to rest. She talked about her busy life in an interview with The Guardian

There were periods where I felt like I had no idea what I was doing and then there were other periods where I felt like there weren’t enough hours in the day,” she says. “The book tour … was a big project that took a lot of time and took a lot of energy. We wanted to do it well, but emotionally and mentally, it probably sapped more out of me than I realised“.

But good news was in store for Barty as she recently announced that she and her husband, Garry Kissick, are expecting their first child. As they learned about it, their whole world turned upside down. For Barty, this has been a new kind of challenge.

But it was awesome. I think it was a really nice way to kind of have that line in the sand, to literally close the chapter and look to what’s next. Then a few months ago, our world and our future was tipped on its head [with the pregnancy]. It’s been challenging. But it’s also been unique and, probably, everything I could have asked for“.
