Ruud won the match comfortably as the game finished at 5-7,6-2,6-1,7-6. The former Lyon open winner was heartbroken and expressed his feelings in an Instagram post. Fans noticed a prominent name in the comment section as the Former world No.1 Venus Williams encouraged the Frenchmen.
He was also critical of himself in the post-match conference. The Frenchmen admitted that he collapsed in front of his hometown due to the overwhelming support he received.
