Serena Williams is the most popular active tennis star today. The 40-year-old finally made a comeback after long hiatus at the Wimbledon Championship 2022.

Although because of the long gap and very little match practice, she suffered a shocking defeat in her first-round match. While Serena plans to go stronger in the US Open, her former coach Rick Macci has a piece of advice for her.

Rick Macci’s advice for Serena

Serena Williams’ former coach Rick Macci gave a piece of strong advice to his pupil. The renowned coach wants Serena to practice hard if she wants to win the US Open.

Taking to his Twitter account, Macci wrote,

“@Serenawilliams Needs to be practicing 24/7 if she wants to flip the script. Once she expects every shot to go in and not hope they go in then the belief goes thru the U.S. OPEN ROOF.”

In her Wimbledon appearance against Harmony Tan, Serena gave a tough fight. However, she was unable to match the energy of an opponent almost half of her age. Moreover, the 23-time grand slam champion may also have to work on reducing the unforced errors that cost her crucial points.

With Serena signed up for the National Bank Open in Toronto and later Cincinnati Open, we expect to see a better and stronger Serena in the US Open.

Serena Williams’ records over the years

Serena has been ruling the court for over two decades now. She won her first Grand Slam, the US Open in the year 1999. Further, she went on to win 23 Grand Slam. With the most recent one of them being the 2017 Australian Open. The younger Williams sister, topped the WTA rankings for a total of 319 weeks; has the most number of Grand Slam titles in the Open Era and is second overall, just behind Margaret Court (24).

Apart from her record in singles, Serena formed a lethal partnership with her sister Venus to play Women’s doubles. She has won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals.
