‘Going to Make a Lot of Money’- Sloane Stephens Confident of Persuading Danielle Collins to Come Out of Retirement

American professional tennis player Sloane Stephens spoke about colleague Danielle Collins’s retirement exclusively. Stephens along with her partner, Ashlyn Krueger won the Charleston Open tournament doubles together for the first time. These two brilliant WTA stars took over Ukrainians Nadia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok to bag their victory. However, along with their happiness, Stephens took a moment to respond to the questions following colleague Danielle Collins’s retirement.

Since Collins announced her planned retirement after this season, the whole tennis fraternity was visibly disappointed. Nevertheless, they showered their support for Collins’s decision. However, Sloane Stephens dropped an unexpected answer fuelling fans’ excitement about the matter.

After winning the doubles at the Charleston Open tournament with Ashlyn Krueger, Sloane Stephens was asked about her opinion and thoughts on Collins’s retirement. Now Stephens kind of surprised the fraternity by dropping her answer. Sloane Stephens commented- “And then I’m just going to try to convince her not to retire because you kind of got to ride the wave, right? So, I’m like, you have like another year of like playing where you’re going to make a lot of money, like, don’t give it up too soon. I don’t know, I’m going to have that talk with her.”


Sloane Stephens’s revelation expressed that she is still not cool with Danielle Collins’s retirement. Stephens felt that Collins had a bright future ahead. That is why instead of retirement, she should focus on her next plans and earn more money. Now, Collins also defeated Sloane Stephens at the Charleston Open tournament’s singles. Nevertheless, Stephens has yet to accept Collins’s retirement decision and wishes to persuade her to reconsider it.

How did Danielle Collins force Sloane Stephens to exit from the Charleston Open’s singles?

Collins defeated Sloane Stephens in round sixteen of the Charleston Tournament by 6-2 and 6-2. It forced the American tennis player to exit from the singles. However, Stephens partnered with Ashlyn Krueger and won the tournament’s doubles. Collins expressed her joy in defeating Stephens.

She said– “Obviously not easy coming out and playing two matches back to back, but very rewarding thing to be able to accomplish against two incredibly high-level players, a top six player and a Grand Slam champion. So I should be able to take this and use it as confidence moving forward.”
