It was the third time unlucky for the Tunisian, Ons Jabeur. The World Number Six gave her all at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships. However, she faltered at the final hurdle as she went down fighting against Czech Republic’s Marketa Vondrousova. Last year, Jabeur lost the finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. This year’s Wimbledon final was her third major final and it didn’t go in her favor. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old kept a brave face after saddening final defeats.

In what was a one-sided final, Marketa Vondrousova dominated her Tunisian opponent after not the greatest of starts. The former lost her first service game of the match to give Jabeur the early advantage. However, she came back strongly to win the final four games of the opening set to win it 6-4.

Subsequently, the second set panned out similarly to the first. Jabeur got the early advantage to take a 3-1 lead. However, she couldn’t capitalize on it as the Czech made a comeback to win the second set 6-4. The match lasted for just an hour and 20 minutes, resulting in Marketa Vondrousova winning her maiden Grand Slam title.
