‘Gotta Do What You Love’ – Venus Williams Proudly Celebrates the Power of Women With Her ‘Muse Collection’

Venus Williams has been a stalwart in almost all endeavors she has chosen to pursue. Along with her sister, Venus heralded a new era in women’s tennis and was monumental in introducing the powerful and dominating athletic style of play in the WTA circuit. Other than being a phenomenal player, the seven-time Grand Slam champion is also an entrepreneur who is deeply interested in fashion.
Not only does Venus have a clothing line of her own, she also has an interior design firm known as V Starr. Recently, she was spotted at a party organized to celebrate a launch by the company.

The company was founded by the former World No. 1 as an outlet for her passion for design way back in 2002, when she was just 23 years old. The name is also inspired by her own name, Venus Ebony Starr Williams.
Venus Williams launches new textile
At the event, Venus talked about how it was a great experience to collaborate with renowned American design company, Wolf-Gordon. “We want everyone to be able to use these fabrics and think about the women in their lives… you gotta do what you love or else what’s the point,” Venus Williams said.

Sonya Haffey, a V Starr executive, also spoke about how the textiles came to be created and how much of it was inspired by Venus herself and her lived experiences. “A lot of the inspiration came from Venus and images she’s seen and textiles she really enjoys and a lot of the different fabric type she likes and then being able to take that into context and then sketching out how that could translate into a fabric,” she added.

Like her sister Serena Williams, Venus too is deeply passionate about designing. She also has a Masters in Interior Architecture and hopes that her expertise will help her guide the team better. “I’m a nerd, and I love interior design. I love school. So, you know, it helps me to guide my team, and hopefully, give them input, and be able to add to the conversation,” she had said once.
