Tennis, unfortunately, suffers from popularity issues. Out of all the sports that people aim to play professionally, tennis is usually lower on the list. Therefore, many have taken it upon themselves to increase the popularity of the racket sport. Taylor Townsend is one player who has the objective of making more people play tennis. Getting closer to her goal, she featured on Cardi B’s show and played tennis with the rapper. 

Townsend is not the only one who hopes to increase the popularity of tennis in the US. Morgan Riddle, girlfriend of Taylor Fritz, has taken it upon herself to get more people aware of tennis. She held a live session on her TikTok where she talked about the basics of tennis. 

Taylor Townsend plays with Cardi B

The American player has had a rocky career ever since she turned pro in 2010. However, she has shown no signs of giving up. Townsend recently put on outstanding performances in the clay season and even beat Jessica Pegula in the Italian Open. As life progresses for her, she is embracing new challenges. She has joined the new move of making sure the sport reaches the masses around the world. 

As part of her journey, she made an appearance on rapper Cardi B’s show, Cardi Tries. In the episode, she attempted to coach Cardi and singer Normani Hamilton. After the episode, Townsend loved playing tennis with Cardi and recalled a funny moment that took place during the coaching. 

“Cardi was a lot of fun,” Townsend said. “But she was dying after hitting five shots. I was like, ‘You guys have a minute to pick up all the balls,’ and she had to lie down on the couch because she was out of breath. But Normani is super-athletic. She’s done dance and gymnastics and volleyball“.

Even though the two got tired quickly, it was a great experience for Townsend. “It was such a cool experience to blend tennis and pop culture,” she told WTA. 

Townsend’s recollection of the event was truthful, as Cardi B also talked about her time spent learning. The rapper was exhausted by the end and felt that she had stabbed herself with her nails.
