Over the last three decades, Venus Williams has proven why she deserves to be called one of the best. However, over the past few years, her struggle to perform has given rise to questions about her retirement. In addition, her advancing age is also a clear signal of a potential retirement announcement by the 7-time Grand Slam champion in the near future.
With the talk of her retirement gaining momentum, it also comes up as a question as to what would tie her to tennis post-retirement. Even though there are a handful of ways to maintain that connection, one of the most commonly used ways is commentating. However, Venu feels otherwise.

Giving a glimpse of that, on Thursday, she came up with another episode of ‘Tennis Thursday with Coach Venus Williams’. A weekly Q&A session with her fans on the Instagram page of her activewear brand, ‘EleVen by Venus Williams’. While she received a plethora of questions concerning her professional and personal life, what took the limelight was a question about trying her hands at commentating.
“Would you ever get into commentating?” a fan asked the former World No.1.

Considering the massive fan base of Venus Williams, it goes without saying that fans would love to see her in the shoes of a commentator. However, the legendary American clearly didn’t approve of it. Replying to the fan, she asserted, “No. I have a hard time holding my tongue. Have you noticed that lately? It wouldn’t go well.”

While Venus gave a clear no-no to commentating, that isn’t the case with other players. Following their retirement, numerous players like Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, Andy Roddick, etc. have taken up the role of commentating. Needless to say, they have rightly justified their role.
