Serena Williams, the 23 times Grand Slam champion, has always been a multitasker. After establishing her dominance in the courts of tennis, Williams stepped onto the market of investments. Further, like her game, she advanced in the sector and started her own business.

However, she was able to enter and flourish in the risky sector, majorly because of one reason. For Williams, the money she earned via her game was just a reward. As earlier, the former World No.1 herself admitted that her focus was always on her performance in tournaments and not on the prize money. Though she also accepted that along with the success, came a weird obsession.

Williams, while in an interview with CEO Maverick Cater for Chase Bank’s series ‘Kneading Dough’ in 2017, spoke about her financial decisions. She said, “I never played for money. Athletes who genuinely do that just tend to be greater and better.”

Thereafter, the former world no.1 addressed one of her biggest guilty pleasures. She admitted, “I have the weirdest one. It’s property. Yeah, that’s really random.” However, when asked about how much she has acquired in terms of property, she said, “I don’t know, a lot.”

The seven times Wimbledon champion is one of the most influential and marketable entities in the world. Her net worth currently is around $260 million. Also, she ranks first in the list of all-time WTA career prize money. Williams has earned a total of $94,518,971 from tennis events.

Serena Williams’ investments

Serena Williams has invested in over 60 startups via her investment firm Serena Ventures and in March 2022, they broke the news of raising a record funding of $111 million. Further, now she sits in the board meeting of Survey Monkey’s parent company, Momentive, and has entered the market of NFTs as Sorare’s advisor.

In addition, Williams owns minority stakes in the American NFL team Miami Dolphins and recently invested in Karat with the aim of helping black software engineers.
