In the past, (Richard) Williams talked about his main motive for bringing his daughters into tennis, i.e. to make million dollars. At that time, many people criticized Williams and his methods. In the 1997 US Open, Venus reached the final, where she faced the Swiss player Martina Hingis. Incidentally, Richard missed the finals and Venus lost the final pretty badly. Meanwhile, Richard also had a change of mindset regarding the success of his daughters and making financial gains from it.”When I first started, I started like most parents. I wanted to make a million dollars. I started for the wrong reason. That’s why I don’t feel good about it,” he further said.
