The Australian Open 2021 is just a week away and fans are witnessing some competitive tennis at the Yarra Valley Classic Open 2021 before that. The tournament is special as some big stars, including Serena Williams and Venus Williams, are playing there. After defeating Arantxa Rus in the first round, Venus will now face Petra Kvitova in the next round.

In a recent press conference, Venus Williams not only talked about her game but opened up about her interest in American football. The 7-time Grand Slam champion is a great fan of the NFL and seems quite excited for its final that will take place soon.

“Of course, I love the NFL,  love sports, and our Dolphins did pretty well this year. We came really close, but of course, it’s so exciting to see this next, this NFL final coming up. [I] will be happy for whoever wins,” said Williams in the press conference.

Listening to Venus, one can easily sense that she doesn’t just love the sport but follows it too. Her favorite team is Miami Dolphins in the NFL and the 40-year-old supports it unconditionally. In the same press conference, Williams also expressed her views on the NFL legend Tom Brady.

“He’s amazing at what he does”- Venus Williams on Tom Brady

Tom Brady has been one of the greatest players of American football. He is still playing the sport at the age of 43 and is doing pretty well, even though his stats have taken a bit of a hit lately. Williams went on and praised Brady for his unbelievable achievements.

“He’s good at what he does. No one can take that away from him. It doesn’t matter what the stats are, he’s amazing at what he does. So he doesn’t limit himself,” concluded the American player.

Williams will certainly look to perform the way Brady does for his team, even at 43. She is 40 at the moment and this year might prove to be the last or close to the last year of her career.

After this tournament, Williams will advance to the Australian Open 2021. Although she has played two Australian Open finals in her career so far, she’s failed to win the title on both occasions.
