

Yesterday, the world witnessed bad news. The world-famous photographer Patrick Demarchelier suddenly passed away at the age of 78. He photographed many celebrities and models throughout his career. He also took photographs of legendary tennis star Maria Sharapova. On the day of his passing, the Russian tennis player shared some beautiful photos from the early days of her career.

Maria Sharapova shared some heartfelt notes for Patrick Demarchelier
Earlier on Instagram stories, the five-time Grand Slam champion, Sharapova, shared some photos. First, she posted a photo of Demarchelier with a heartbreak emoji. Then the tennis player posted a photo wearing a Tag Heuer Watch. She revealed she was 17, and it was her first-ever fashion campaign. “When I was 17, @patrickdemarchelier photographed my first ever fashion campaign,” Sharapova wrote.
Then, she shared a picture with famous NBA star LeBron James, and wrote, “He kindly donated his time to photograph @lebron and I for UNDP’s fight against poverty campaign. @patrickdemarchelier.”
In the next story, she shared a photo of perfume with her face on it. The tennis player revealed that Demarchelier photographed the packaging of that perfume. “Back in the day when celebrity perfumes sold like hot cakes… he photographed that packaging,” Sharapova wrote.

Notably, Demarchelier photographed Princess Diana many times back in the day. Apart from Princess Diana, he also took photographs of some infamous celebrities, like Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, and many more. In the fashion world, he worked with Vogue, Dior, Ralph Lauren, and others in the past. Undoubtedly, he will be a great loss to the world.
Demarchelier’s team shared the news on Instagram
On Instagram, the social media team of the photographer shared the sad news to the world. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrick Demarchelier on March 31st, 2022, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife Mia, his three sons Gustaf, Arthur, Victor and three grandchildren,” his Instagram handler shared this as a post.
