The American tennis great Serena Williams found a perfect partner in Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Both Serena and Alexis come from completely different backgrounds. Along with that, they have a completely different profession. However, that didn’t stop the power couple from having a wedding ceremony that fulfilled everyone’s wishes.

It’s been five years since their marriage. Both Serena and Alexis have busy schedules and share the responsibility of raising their daughter, Olympia. The couple recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. Back in 2017, the two selected Big Easy’s Contemporary Arts Center. The location theme that the bride and groom chose made the wedding even more special.

The couple’s reason for choosing a city-specific decoration theme

Serena and Alexis exchanged vows on the 16th of November 2017. The couple had French ball-themed nuptials with influence from Disney’s animated movie, “Beauty and the Beast.” Further, the location they chose as the city theme was New Orleans. It was Ohanian’s choice. Later, Serena revealed why he had a special connection with the city.

“Alexis really wanted to do New Orleans. It’s his favorite city besides Brooklyn. It’s got a heavy European influence; it’s fun and has amazing food. He just loves the vibe,” she said.

Serena and Alexis’ daughter, Olympia, is also five years old now. Like her mother, the little one has also shown an early interest in sports. However, Serena fans will be disappointed to know that the sport she loves playing is not tennis. She rather enjoys playing soccer.

Marriage is not all bliss, according to Serena Williams

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are near perfect as a couple. The couple also handles their parenting duty perfectly. However, the tennis legend still believes that marriage is not bliss. In an old interview, Serena said the same. Adding to that, the 23-time Grand Slam champion also said that it depends on the couple how they make it work out.

Further, the former world number 1 added that heartbreaks and separation are always tough to deal with. However, with time, everything slowly becomes perfect. Before marriage, Ohanian was not interested in sports, but with time, he developed a knack for it. Similarly, after her marriage to a successful businessman, the qualities rubbed off on Serena as well.
