‘He Says He Can Take Me Lefty’- Serena Williams Once Explained What Drake Told Her When They Played Tennis Together

American tennis star Serena Williams is at the tail end of her career. The 40-year-old recently announced her plans to retire from tennis after the ongoing summer hard court season. The former world number 1 is currently in Canada. She featured in the National Bank Open where she won her first-round match. However, the legend could not go past Belinda Bencic in the second-round match.

The 40-year-old has some beautiful memories of Canada. She has won the Canadian Open thrice. Back in 2015, there were rumors regarding Serena dating the popular Canadian rapper and singer Drake. She had also revealed that the Canadian loved playing tennis.

When Serena revealed Drake’s love for tennis

Back in 2015, Serena answered a question regarding Drake’s interest in tennis and if they ever hit the court together. The way she replied was quite entertaining.

“Yeah. We actually hit several times. He is really a good player. He said he played tennis when he was younger. I thought, really, of all sports. So he’s always kind of been into tennis. So we hit a lot. Not a lot. But we used to hit a lot. Yeah, he’s really good. He says he can take me lefty, which gets me charged up.”

Serena will play next in the Cincinnati Masters before finally entering the US Open.

Williams is among the top achievers in modern-day tennis. The 40-year-old turned pro in 1995 and has since won 23 Grand Slam titles. Out of these, six titles came in the US Open, seven each in the Australian Open and Wimbledon, and three in the French Open.

With 23 titles, she is the second most Grand Slam title winner. She stands just behind the former Australian great Margaret Court, who won 24 titles.

Serena needed just one more title to equal her record. However, the 40-year-old has failed to do so in the last five years. The last time she won a Major title was back in 2017.
