‘He Sent Me Confidence’ – Simona Halep on Patrick Mouratoglou’s Impact on Her Recent Resurgence at Wimbledon Championships 2022

It looks like Simona Halep is back to her best this season. The two-time Grand Slam champion has had a mixed 2022 season with inconsistent performances across the tournaments. However, she has found her lost mojo at the ongoing 2022 Wimbledon Championships. The former world number one is into the semi-finals of the tournament with a commanding victory over American Amanda Anisimova.
The 30-year-old has had numerous changes to her coaching staff since her split with long-time coach Darren Cahill. Earlier this year, she announced the addition of Serena Williams’ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou to her coaching staff. Recently, she heaped praise on Mouratoglou for having a positive influence on her recent performances.

Simona Halep all praise for Patrick Mouratoglou
During the post-match press conference after her quarter-final victory, an interviewer asked Halep about what makes Mouratoglou a good coach. Replying to this question, she said, “Well, first he’s a great person inside and we really connected from the first minute. As a coach, he talks super simple but super powerful and I take everything he tells me, super good and positive and I can actually put in practical so it’s easy for me to get the information and to display it.”

Further, Halep added, “So yeah, and he’s positive as I said. He trusted in myself that I still can be a good player and he sent me somehow this confidence and I started to believe in myself again that I have that chance to be a good player again and yeah, he thinks that everything is possible so this helps me to trust a lot in what I’m doing.”
