Markéta Šimková (Vondroušová) is a WTA player who rose to prominence during her younger years. She made her ITF debut when she was 13 years old. Štěpán Šimek is the husband of Markéta Vondroušová, born in 1997. The 24-year-old Vondroušová married Šimek on July 16, 2022, and they are close to a one-year anniversary. Following the announcement of their engagement in 2021, the WTA star displayed her engagement ring and said “my forever” for the man she had been dating for almost five years, who eventually became her fiancé. 

The ceremony was held at Chateau Mcely, a spa resort and hotel retreat in the Czech Republic. Close friends and family members of the couple attended the wedding. They took celebratory images of the ceremony on a well-kept tennis court. After the celebration, they shared the good news on social media with their fans and followers. 

Marketa posted images from their wedding with the caption “Šimkovi”. She eventually changed her name to Marketa Šimková, taking the feminine version of her husband’s surname.

During her match against Jessica Pegula in the Wimbledon quarterfinal, Vondroušová was trailing 3-1 in the deciding set of the match. Then it was halted due to rain, which served to frustrate the Czech player even further. While waiting for the weather to clear up, she decided to talk to her husband about her worries. 

He asked her to keep fighting no matter the condition or the score. Heeding her husband’s words, Vondroušová found her second wind and clinched the match. Set to reach the Wimbledon semifinal, Vondroušová joked that her husband would stay home to take care of the cat. However, as she goes into the finals, Vondroušová said that her husband will arrive for the match as they found a cat-sitter.
